Little Addictions: A small collection of my favorite games on the net.

I come across tons of games online, but there are a few that I really like for many reasons. Here I thought I'd share just a few of the games I've spent loads of time on, and how far I got. I won't call it wasted time, because we can always use a lil more eye-hand-coordination and logic skills, yes? That and one needs to take a break every now and then. =)

Game Sites
	HomestarRunner.com Games http://homestarrunner.com/games.html No HomestarRunner.com fan has left the site without at least paying a visit to the games section. It's more fun if you know the characters so spend some time exploring the site and getting to know them. I recommend the Strong Bad e-mails section. xD
	Orisinal Games http://ferryhalim.com/orisinal/ I just had to include the entire site because theres no way I could pick a favorite game. There are over 50 original games created by ferryhalim.com, and all are very well made, and super cute. The design and music are absolutely beautiful (I want a soundtrack if they have one actually). If you only visit one game site for the rest of your life, I would tell you to pick this one. They're that good.
	PopCap Games http://popcap.com/ Another game site worth noting. It's gotten a bit too big for my liking but the games are still fun and very addicting. I'm sure you can recognize many of their portable games as the ones that come on palm pilots and cell phones.
	Slime Zone http://slimezone.com/ I think this is the biggest collection of all those "slime games" that everyone and their mom has played at least once. The one-stop place for all your slime 1player, 2player, or multi-player needs!
Escape Room Games
	Crimson Room http://fasco-csc.com/works/crimson/crimson_e.php I believe this is the first original escape room game. Created by Toshimitsu Takagi, it inspired many of the escape room games you see today. (I can't believe Crimson Room is not on the list!!) Status: Escaped!
	Dona Room http://709709.com/game/esk.htm Yet another ecape room game, but a good one. Created by Naoki Nakashima. It's in Japanese, but its not necessary to understand it to play. Figure out the meaning of the symbols, find the safe, and figure out how to get out! Hint: Upside down triangles and right side up triangles are not the same. Neither are the filled/unfilled shapes. See the other escape room games. Status: Escaped!
	MOTAS: The Mystery of Time and Space http://albartus.com/motas/ The coolest escape room game ever. Click and manipulate objects to work your way out of the room. Best of all, it lets you come back and start where you left off. If you enjoyed MOTAS, you'll probably like these other escape room games. Some good, some not. (I can't believe MOTAS is not on the list!) Status: Completed! (Level 13)
Logic and Puzzles
	The Dark Room http://woolythinking.com/html/darkroomIE.html?o=0o This game will have your head spinning in more ways that one. Using just your mouse, click and move around in order to solve the puzzles. Each puzzle/level comes in different colors. It sounds a little like an escape room game, but not quite. The hardest part is figuring out "what the heck am I suppose to do?". But that's the real challenge. Once you figure that out, the rest should be easier. Much thinking required. 	Bomb Sweeper 3D http://skt-products.com/contents/bomb_sw.html The original Mine Sweeper game in 3D! I was never good at the 2D version so my performance on the 3D was twice as abysmal, but it's a fun twist with some old school RPG music (I swear it is!) to accompany it. Give it a try!
	Grow RPG http://eyezmaze.com/grow/RPG/ A twisted sort of strategy-logic game in the form of an RPG. Grow your world in any order you choose, but the right order will leave you a winner, while the wrong order will have you killed. Experiment with different orders to learn the secrets of the grow world and make your hero a winner.
	Sudoku http://websudoku.com/ Sudoku is a popular number logic game that started in New York but became popular in Japan. It is now returning and growing more and more popular in the US. You've probably seen them in newspapers and now its online! Purely logic! Anyone can play. No adding, subtracting, multiplying or any other mess. Simply fill in the blanks and make sure the numbers 1-9 do not repeat in any row, column, or section. Very addicting! Go work out that left side of your brain.
	Planarity http://planarity.net/ Created by CaseWestern student, John Tantalo, Planetary is for the OCD in all of us. Simply rearrange the vertices so that none of the lines intersect. It has the same fustrations and satisfication as untying a knot. Very addicting! I'm sure you can use some kind of cool mathematic formula to solve it but that takes all the fun out of it, doesn't it? Tangled on: Level 19
	Orbox http://rubilon.kulichki.com/games/orbox.swf Requires some thinking and planning. Strategically bounce your block around without flying off the screen until you reach you goal. Naturally, the levels get more and more complicated and different types of blocks, portals, and switches appear. If you hate starting over whenever the window is closed (as I do), there's another version of this game that lets you return via passwords called Road Blocks. Stuck on: Level 25
	Kawawatari (River Crossing) http://freeweb.siol.net/danej/riverIQGame.swf This is a basic Japanese logic game. I hear they use it as an IQ test for job applicants in Japan. Click the blue circle to begin. The idea is to get everyone across the river, but there are some rules: The raft can only hold 2 people. Only adults can operate the raft The cop cannot leave the criminal alone with the family. The father will hit the daughters if the mother is not around. The mother will hit the son if the father is not around.
	Grid Lock http://ebaumsworld.com/gridlock.shtml Simply shift the blocks in order to get your blue block out the exit and out of grid lock! This game also let's you continue where you left off. When you're done with that, check out the rest of the cool games at eBaum's World. He's got a nice variety of games to keep you entertained for hours (who hasn't heard of ebaums world anyway?). Shooting and Aiming
	Notepad Invaders http://www2.b3ta.com/notepadinvaders/ Just a cute version of Invaders that I liked. Reminds me of times in class where I passed lecture times by scribbling away on paper and playing games on a good ol' T-83Plus. High Score: Not very.
	Defend Your Castle http://xgenstudios.com/play/castle/ Who ever knew being defensive could be just as fun as attacking? Defend your castle from the onslaught of evil stick figures by hurling them through the air to their gruesome deaths. Save up points for extra defenses, or convert and train enemies to fight for you. Great stress relieving fun! Defeated at: 134060
	RaidenX http://flashplayer.com/games/raidenx_movie.php Very addicting! Move with the arrow keys, pause with space/enter, shoot with Z, bomb with X. If you dont like those, you can change them in settings. Very fun! Go play!
	Pandaf Golf http://pandafgolf.com/ A rather strange 2d version of golf. Simply choose the angle and power and bounce your ball onto the designated platform. Quite amusing. The sound effects sound like they've been ripped from Mario and Pong. Bouncing Around On: Level 19
	Puzzle Bobble http://www.ventoline.com/frozenbubble/bustamove640.html Classic Puzzle Bobble in flash. Great fun. I used to play this all the time, although my mom is better at it. Give it a go.
	Cyrkam Airtös http://sticky.tv/game/cyrkam_airtos/ Ah good ol Cyrkam Airtös. Waiting is a bit of a bummer, but the wait isn't long and it's worth it. A very fun online version of what I see idiots doing in class all the time. The warm/cool color thing they have going on makes it very nice to look at and the unique music gives it a nice touch when you're not sick of it. Give it a toss! High Score: Don't remember
	Fortress http://tuoitho.net/diendan/index.php?action=games&id=1 This Korean game is awesome. Think Gunbound in your backyard after school. Keep wind, power, and distance in mind as you aim your shoe at the enemy behind a homemade fort. Or for added power, choose one of your secret weapons to throw and snicker as your enemy is hit dead on. Great fun if you're playing with a friend. Timing and Mouse Control
	Too Many Ninjas http://www.foddy.net/Ninjas.html So simple, yet so wonderful. Apprently you're stuck in the mud and can move nothing but your upper body. Use the arrow keys to control your sword and fend off the torrent of ninjas.
	Flow http://intihuatani.usc.edu/cloud/flowing/ I discovered Flow in a Wired mag, and I really liked it. It originated to illustrate the creator's theory of flow in games. It definately met its goals. Very beautiful and flowy. You start at the top of a deep pool, and eat red creatures to go down a level, and blue to go up. Eat other small critters to grow in length. Click your mouse to accelerate.
	Katamari Damacy http://jayisgames.com/archives/2006/02/katamari_damacy.php We Love Katamari! And now there's a mini flash version of it. The idea is basically the same as it's PS2 original. Roll up small stuff so you can get big enough to roll up the big stuff. Eventually you'll be big enough to roll up the ground to expose a painting underneath. There seems to be no end to it, just roll roll roll. You can read more about the directions and options on the site. If you ever have the chance, you must play the original on PS2 which is loads more fun (naturally).
	Ring Mania 2 http://www.pepere.org/flash-development_1_3x/flash-game-ringmania_u_42.html Green spheres are magnetic, gold are not. Collect and connect same colored circles in groups of three or more to pop and clear them all. Very simple, very addicting. Ring Mania 1 is also fun. Cool and collected until: Flowers stage (score: 15398)
	Don't Shoot the Puppy http://www.rrrrthats5rs.com/games/dont-shoot-the-puppy It's simple enough. Simply don't shoot the puppy. The challenge? It's a true test of patience. Whatever happens, you must watch on without moving your mouse! How long can you last? Patiently awaited til: Level 15 (completed)
	Short Circuit http://www.armorgames.com/games/shortcircuit_popup.html Never mind the fact that you are a light bulb trying to avoid an onslaught of astericks. This game is not for the musically or rhythmically challenged. These astericks will attack you to the beat of the music so keep and ear out for those audio cues. Music is... interesting. Headphones might be a good idea if you've got neighbors. Very amusing, very clean design. Beat beated at: 4230
	Himatsubushi (Kill Time) http://saty-home.com/prouge/pro.php?proid=28 This game is for the sole purpose of killing time. It's not all that exciting but it'll get the job done. Just keep your cursor from being captured by the lil guy. He will try all sorts of tricks to get it. Some easier to evade than others. Requires good reaction speed. Evaded: 655
	3D Pong http://www.funnyjunk.com/pages/3d_pong_game.htm Classic pong in 3D. Lots of fun! More fun than 2D pong I daresay. Only I can't seem to ever beat the computer though...
	Hamure-su (Hamster Race) http://rit.edu/~jhb4598/games/ham.swf Oh those crazy Japanese. This is a simple little game that requires just a click of a mouse and some good control. Guide the hamster around the track for as long as you can. Turn him counter-clockwise with each click of the mouse. Best stretch: 514 cm
	Hellydrop http://gorillaz.com/item.php?N=hellydrop&URL=hellydrop This is quite addicting. It's pretty much the original Hellicopter game, but with added obstructions like lightning bolts and bats. Give it a try! High Score: 1168
	Every Second Counts http://zefrank.com/everysecond/ Every second counts! Hold your mouse down on the button for the exact indicated time. It's kind of stupid, but the more you get right, the more you want to play. Give it a try and see how good your timing is, because it's gotta be better than mine. Longest time: 1.8 seconds T.T
Quick Eye
	Finding 4 http://www.tonypa.pri.ee/start.html This game is just that. Find the four guys that match the picture of the four guys at the bototm. This word search with pictures. I think the hardest part is finding the link to the game on this guy's site.
	Snap Shotz: The Spot the Differences Game http://www3.sympatico.ca/spore/wip/SnapShotz.html Exactly as it says. You have 45 seconds to spot the difference between 2 pictures. There are 5 rounds of pics with 5 differences each round. Click wrong, and your time runs down. Give it a try and see how good your eyes are. Once you've memorized all the differences, check out the other fun Spore Productions games. Best Score: 26100
Typing and Word Games
	Story Man http://eastoftheweb.com/cgi-bin/top_scores.pl?game=storyman Hangman with no hanging. While this may sound disappointing, it's really not bad at all. Instead of hanging, the lil man will simply walk off the screen. Best yet, you get to choose the topic your words will come from. Choose anything from Sports to Short Stories to Lord of the Rings. If you're the type who loves word games, the fun collection of word games by eastoftheweb.com are for you.
	Ohanami Taipingu (Flower Viewing Typing) http://www.toshiba.co.jp/digital/ddgame/index.html A fun twist for typers in America. I think this game is originally for the Japanese to work on their keyboard typing, but it shows the roman letters below the Japanese so we too can play. Unless you want a real challenge working on your Japanese reading skills by looking only at the Japanese.
Miscellaneous
	Twinoo http://www.tetris1d.org/zigah/twinoo/twinoo.php Are you a left brain or right brain person? Or are you're somewhere in between? Now you can pit your hemispheres together in this neat game called Twinoo. You're asked a series of questions two at a time, one for each brain half. You have 6 seconds to answer both of them. The first half to miss 3 questions looses. None of the questions are very hard, but switching between them can leave you quite dizzy.
	Stackopolis http://stackopolis.com/play/ Follow the blueprint and race against the clock to stack up the blocks and build your Stackopolis. Remember the level codes, because it's a pain to start over. Built: All 20 levels with really bad times
	Guimp Pacman: World's Smallest Pacman Game http://guimp.com/pacman_flash.html There's tons of Pacman's out there, but I like this one because it's so small! Actually, if you go to the guimp.com site, you'll see that the entire site is that small (18x18 pixels!). I admit I cheated and zoomed in on my browser, but it's fun all the same. There are more fun, classic games like pacman on the guimp site so go find them and play!
	Tontie http://eyezmaze.com/tontie/v1/index.html Make sure you have your NumLock on and get ready to test ur eye-hand coordination skills. The idea is simple and the instructions are universal and easy to learn. The coolest part is as you collect coins, you get chances during the game to visit the store and buy more life or weapon upgrades. These become necessary later on as the levels get quite tricky and you need to be quick with your fingers. Can't get past: Level 8
	Geordie's Ant Arena http://seethru.co.uk/zine/south_coast/week02/01.htm I think I like the idea more than the game itself. The story behind it is quite amusing and worth the read. I can't say I dont feel a certain amount of satisfaction whenever I see one of the ants get squished. The controls are a bit annoying, but it adds to the challenge. Status: Completed! (Level 5)
