we’re so proud of you
May 27th, 2006
Last night we had a bit of a celebration for our recent high school graduates, so I’d just like to take this chance to congratulate them. I’ve also put together this lovely commemorative picture for their embarrasment. So congrats Rebekah (Garland High), Esther (Hebron High), Dennis (Hebron High), and Duc (Plano East Senior High)!

vy will make you preeeety
May 23rd, 2006
Those who have seen me lately will notice my new super cool hair cut and dye. Some say I’m turning Japanese. Some say I’m turning into a Japanese guy. I’m not gonna confirm or deny either of those. Instead, I’ll take this chance to pimp my hair cutter, Vy, who now works at Richland hairsalon (near hongkong martket on walnut and audelia).

(vy’s excellent and accurate map)
Go give her a visit, she’ll make you preeety. And don’t worry, if she screws up, her boss will come over and save the day. Look, she’s just dying to cut your hair. –>
(scary!)
I know this is the part where I give you a picture of the finished product so you too can speculate whether I’m turning into a Japanese guy. But you know what? I don’t have a decent picture so you’ll just have to hunt me down in person. BWAHAHA
Kino’s Journey
May 20th, 2006
Title: Kino’s Journey – The Beautiful World (キノの旅 – the Beautiful World)
Rating:
Episodes: 13
Torrent: [KAA]_Kino’s_Travels.1-13.DVD(complete)
Summary:
Kino and his talking motorrad, Hermes, travels the world staying in one place for only three days. They visit many different countries and explore the culture, tradition, and people in each place while discovering different interpretations to the meaning of life. More Info…
Thoughts:
I got it initially because the plot seemed interesting, and it’s the kind of thing I’ve always wanted to do. I was pleasantly surprised though. It wasn’t like the usual anime, but it wasn’t downright mind-melting or outrageously weird. Not very exciting or action packed, but it has a few moments when Kino busts out with the persuader (gun) and owns everyone. Very philosophical and deep, but not heavy and preachy. The whole idea is that “The world isn’t beautiful, therefore it is.” Kino discovers human faults, skewed beliefs, and just some really crazy people. But these imperfections are what makes it a beautiful world. It also helps that Kino is just a cool main character. Very aloof and stoic, Kino provides the best type of personality to view the world just as it is. Don’t let the “search for meaning” part turn you off. It’s not as bad as it sounds (and I’ve seen some bad ones x_x). Overall, I liked it so much, I put as my #2 favorite.
back home again
May 13th, 2006
It seems in every other post I’m always apologizing for not posting. It’s somewhat ironic, and definately pathetic. But no more! I’m back home for the summer and connected to the world once again! In response to those few comments I got:
Yes, I am going to Dai Hoi this year. Actually, chasers/supplicate (meaning chris, daniel, david, eli, me, and reb) will be leading praise for the youth. So do come if you can! The more the merrier! More on that when it comes closer.
Yes, indeed I heard about the new live-action Prince of Tennis Movie coming out. I’m looking forward to all the CG tennis balls. I’m a bit dissapointed that Tezuka is so ugly but it’s ok– Echizen was always my favorite anyway.
Yes, Thomas (actually that wasn’t a yes/no question but I’m saying “yes” for the sake of consistancy). I heard Imogen had some new music but never got around to actually listening to it. Thanks for the link. It reminded me to go and err acquire the CD and give it a listen. I’m liking it very much.
